As part of our music, we composed songs to make "Night Music" We looked at a picture of a night scene for inspiration. It reminded me of Halloween night.
In groups we put together or own little compositions using percussion instruments such as triangles, maracas, tambourines, shakers and wood blocks. We also used paper to make wind and thunder sounds and some children whistled to make wind sounds and meowed to sound like the cats fighting. I liked making wind sounds using paper. I think this music lesson was very enjoyable because we got to work in groups and perform in front of the whole class. by Dara

For Halloween, we did a Science experiment. The experiment showed an acid and base reaction. We used vinegar (the acid) and baking soda (the base) for our experiment. When we added the baking soda to the vinegar, the mixture started to fizz up to the rim of the jar and slowly it started to pour out of the jar and all over the tray.
The mixture turned into slime and we started to touch and play with the slime. The slime felt very slippery and cold but nice in your hands! The smell was a bit bad because of the vinegar. We loved doing this experiment because it was fun to see the ingredients react like that and then turn into slime. It was very very messy and some people's hands turned green like goblins!! by Aileen and Saoirse We learned the Irish poem, An Chailleach Ghránna by Gabriel Rosenstock. It was really good fun putting on funny voices for the witch and the scared child.
For art we made collage witches. We used different coloured paper to create our witches. We really enjoyed learning the poem and making our witches and I think they looked scary and fabulous up on the wall. We wrote essays about a Haunted Mansion in English. We brainstormed lots of scary words on the board to use in our essays. We made silhouettes of the haunted mansions in art. We painted the background using red and yellow paint and then used black paper to make the haunted mansions. It was really good fun doing this art. By Emily & Victoria |
